Natchitoches Parish Deputies have charged a local man with murder in the disappearance of Clara Patricia “Patty” Bynog.

According to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones, Jr., deputies have charged Morgan Prothro, 37, of 220 Paul Jordan Road, with one count of second degree murder.

Sheriff Jones said today’s arrest comes after a two and half month investigation into the December 13th disappearance of Ms. Bynog. Morgan Prothro and Ms. Bynog were known to have been together prior to her disappearance.

Sheriff Jones said investigators interviewed Prothro at the time of her disappearance, and collected evidence that was forwarded to the Northwest Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory in Shreveport for processing, but did not have enough information to hold him at the time.

Sheriff Jones said deputies have worked throughout the investigation to obtain additional evidence, and still continue to do so.

Morgan Prothro was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on the murder charge and remains there.

Sheriff Jones said this investigation will continue in an effort to find out as much as possible about what actually happened.

Ms. Bynog’s body has not been recovered.
