Criminal Investigations

The CID investigates criminal acts that occur outside of the jurisdictions of the municipalities of the parish.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office investigates criminal acts that occur outside of the jurisdictions of the municipalities of the parish. The division also provides investigative support and assistance, when requested, to other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

The division works with all agencies in the parish to solve cases efficiently and responsibly. Victims of crime deserve to have their cases resolved as soon as possible.

There are nine full-time investigators serving in the division and seven investigators assigned to the Drug Task Force. All investigators are certified and trained in investigative techniques such as evidence gathering, interviewing witness, victim support, and forensics. Furthermore, some investigators are also trained in various specialties and are assigned to cases related to their areas of focus. Five of the investigators are assigned to investigate felony crimes such as homicides, robberies, property crimes, rapes and sexual assaults, and domestic violence.

The goal of the Investigations Division is to strive to be a deterrent to criminals.

Felony investigators are on-call twenty-four hours per day and respond to crime scenes expeditiously to preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and to work with the responding deputies on the scene.
