The Criminal Investigations Division mission is to Investigate all crimes reported to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division professionally and thoroughly with arrests of perpetrators guilty of committing crimes, recovering stolen property or seeking restitution for victims of property crimes whenever possible, assisting parents and schools with ungovernable juveniles, making sure all Sex Offenders in the Parish are registered according to state laws, and identifying an arresting perpetrators that prey upon society using computers and the internet.
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division consists of 10 Investigators and a Secretary. The division since July 1, 2012 is being headed by Chief of Investigations Greg Dunn who brought 32 years of law enforcement experience to the following divisions.
- Criminal Investigations-responsible for investigating homicides, burglaries, thefts, robberies, rape, assaults, crimes against property
- Juvenile Investigations-responsible for crimes involving persons under the age of 17 and work closely with school resource officers, child protection services, and community service division of the Sheriff’s Office
- Sex Offender Coordinator-responsible for monitoring the Parishes over 100 registered sex offenders
- High tech Crimes Unit-responsible for investigating computer related crimes, child pornography, fraud, internet scams, forgery as well as smart phone related crimes
