Dry Prong Teen Seriously Injured In Crash

Early Saturday morning, a single vehicle crash injured three teens and one young adult.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:00 am, which occurred on US Hwy 71 south of Clarence in Natchitoches Parish. The crash involved a 2002 Honda Civic, driven by Jamane M. County (B/M 20 yrs) of Montgomery, LA. The Honda was south bound on US Hwy 71 when County lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle vaulted across a creek, collided with the embankment on the opposite side, and then overturned.

County received moderate injuries and was transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital. Kimber Vanantwerpen (W/F 19 yrs) of Dry Prong, LA, Kayla Monroe (W/F 18 yrs) of Colfax, LA, and a male juvenile of Montgomery, LA were passengers in the vehicle. Vanantwerpen received serious injuries and was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. Monroe received moderate injuries and was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. The juvenile received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center.

None of the occupants were wearing their seatbelts. Two were ejected.

Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
