Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: January 10, 2010 Natchitoches Parish Fatal Crash Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Alexandria. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:15 pm, which occurred on I-49 north of LA Hwy 6 at Posey Road. The crash involved a 1994 Mercedes 320, driven by Prince O. Mensah (B/M 50 yrs) of Alexandria, LA. The Mercedes was south bound on I-49 when Mensah lost control and exited the left side of the roadway into the median. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a concrete pylon, which supports the Posey Road overpass. After this collision, the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames and Mensah was trapped inside. Mensah was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated three fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in four fatalities. Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies, Fire District 6, Natchitoches EMS, and the Natchitoches Parish Coroner's Office also responded to the crash.
