Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Natchitoches man on multiple felony drug charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.

Andre L. Murphy, 32 of 1507 Gold Street, Natchitoches, La. , was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 2-Counts of Possession of CDS Schedule III Narcotics with Intent to Distribute, 1-Count of Possession of CDS Schedule IV Narcotics with Intent to Distribute, and l-Count of Possession of CDS Schedule I Marijuana.

Sheriff’s Criminal Patrol Units were working on the La. Hwy 1 Bypass near Natchitoches, on Wednesday evening at approximately 7:15pm, when they stopped a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, deputies observed suspected narcotics in plainview.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of nearly 685 pharmaceutical narcotic pills, consisting of 188 suspected “carisoprodol, or soma” pills, 497 suspected hydrocodone pills, and suspected marijuana. Potential Street value over $3500.

Deputies believe that the pills were intended for distribution in the Natchitoches area.

The investigation is continuing.
