Juvenile Seriously Injured In Crash

On Saturday afternoon, a juvenile was seriously injured in Natchitoches Parish.

Troopers responded to the crash around 3:15 pm, which occurred on Bayou Derbonne Road approximately three miles off LA Hwy 493. The crash involved a 1981 Toyota pickup, driven by Cain J. Brian (W/M 27 yrs) of Provencal, LA. The Toyota was west bound on Bayou Derbonne Road when it entered a curve causing a nine-year-old boy to fall out of the bed of the truck. The boy was initially riding on a dog cage.

Brian was not injured in the crash. The boy suffered serious head injuries and was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport for treatment.

Brian was charged with LA R.S. 32:284C (allowing a person under twelve to be a passenger in an open bed of a truck).

The crash remains under investigation.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies, Fire District 1, and Life Air also responded to the scene.
