SHERIFF ADDS ADDITIONAL PATROLS TO HIGHWAYS DURING THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND
NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA.

In a effort, to keep Natchitoches Parish roadways safe during the Labor Day holiday weekend, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr. has announced that he will assign a group of off-duty deputies to aggressively patrol, Natchitoches Parish roadways over the course of the weekend.

During the Independence Day holiday weekend, deputies issued 68 traffic citations.

In addition, deputies will also joining the Cane River Patrol and La. Wildlife and Fisheries Agents in patrolling area waterways during the holiday period.

Deputies will be joining the Louisiana State Police, Cane River Patrol and La. Wildlife and Fisheries Agents in a effort to reduce motor vehicle crashes and boating accidents that result in injuries and fatalities.

Deputies will actively be enforcing DWI, reckless operation, speeding and seat belt violations that normally result in careless mistakes that lead to motor vehicle crashes according to Sheriff Jones.

Recent legislation requires all occupants of a motor vehicle to wear seat belts.

Deputies will also being focusing on All Terrain Vehicles being operated on area roadways. We receive numerous complaints monthly throughout the parish of ATV’s being operated illegally on area roadways according to Chief of Patrols Deputy Siggie Silvie Jr.

The enforcement operation will begin on Friday September 4th and end during the evening of Monday September 7th. To report a reckless driver contact 911 or the Natchitoches Parish Sherifff’s Office at 318-352-6432.
