Fatal Crash In Natchitoches Parish

Yesterday afternoon, a crash involving two vehicles killed a motorcyclist in Natchitoches Parish.

Troopers responded to the crash around 3:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 6 approximately two miles west of I-49. The crash involved a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Thomas R. Faro II (W/M 31 yrs) of Provencal, LA and a 2004 Toyota SUV, driven by Wendy Myers (W/F 36 yrs) of Natchitoches, LA. The Toyota was west bound on LA Hwy 6 stopped and preparing to turn left into a private drive. The Harley Davidson also was west bound on LA Hwy 6 when Faro II failed to stop and collided with the rear of the Toyota.

Faro II was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact. He was wearing a helmet, but it was classified as a novelty helmet. Faro II was pronounced dead at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.

Myers was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 46 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 55 fatalities. Twenty-eight of the 37 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Four crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle.
