| DESOTO PARISH MAN ARRESTED ON FUGITIVE AND DRUG CHARGES |

NATCHITOCHES, LA. Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a DeSoto Parish man on fugitive and drug charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr. Sheriff's Criminal Patrol Units, stopped a Buick passenger car near Interstate-49 and La. Hwy 6 West on Friday afternoon at approximately 5:14pm for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, deputies learned that a passenger in the vehicle was wanted by the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma on fugitive charges since September of 2008. During a search of his person, deputies discovered approximately 28 grams of suspected marijuana, that he had hidden in his sock. Michael A. Smith, 20 of Grand Cane, La. was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS I Marijuana and being a Fugitive from the State of Oklahoma. Smith is awaiting extradition. |
