Natchitoches
Parish Sheriff's Office has made preparations to help protect our citizens
from terrorist attacks and is certified to receive “law-enforcement
sensitive” intelligence data from state and federal sources. That
information is provided to our staff by the sheriff.
Expanded federal assistance extends beyond matters commonly associated
with terrorism. The U.S. Secret Service is authorized to assist us in
cases of
kidnapping, missing or endangered runaway children, as well as child pornography
investigations. They also provide polygraph exams as well as computer hard
drive searches, at our request in criminal matters.
Our Sheriff's Office is working with the Governor’s Office of Emergency
Preparedness in this effort. This group includes representatives from the
Fire Service, Natchitoches Police Department, Parish Director of OEP, and
the Sheriff. The Sheriff, as the chief law enforcement official for Natchitoches
Parish, has been designated as the Point of Contact for any terrorist-related
emergency.
We intend to keep our residents fully informed of our efforts for domestic security. The NPSO designated contact is JD Thornton, 318-357-7818.
