Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office Press Release

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Natchitoches man on Attempted Murder charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.
On Saturday morning, November 24th, at approximately 3:12am, the NPSO 911 Center received a report from a concerned citizen of a injured female lying in a pasture off of Chris Street, near Natchitoches, La.
Deputies responded to the scene arriving at approximately 3:19am.
After arriving on scene, deputies discovered the victim in the pasture suffering from head injuries requesting an ambulance.
During the investigation, deputies learned from the victim, that she and her alleged boyfriend were involved in an altercation, when he allegedly hit her in the head several times with a pot,  threw a microwave at her, and attempted to push a refrigerator on her at their apartment.
The suspect fled the scene prior to the deputies arrival.
The concerned citizen provided deputies with the suspect’s direction of travel.
Deputies immediately issued a BOLO (Be on the Lookout)  for the suspect to the Natchitoches Police Department and within minutes Natchitoches Police had the suspect in custody.
The victim was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
Earnest C. Smith, 42 of 123 B Chris Street, Apt# 21, Natchitoches, La., was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 1-count of Attempted Second Degree Murder, and 2-counts of Resisting a Police Officer with Force after he attempted to fight deputies while being booked into the detention center.
Tenth Judicial District Court Judge Dee Hawthorne has set bond at $253,000.00.
Involved in the Arrest were: Sgt. Ronnie Ross, Lt. Carl Taylor, Deputy Jared Kilpatrick and Natchitoches Police Department (Patrol Shift B).
