Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Deputies have arrested a Natchitoches man on felony drug charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.
On Saturday morning, August 4th, at approximately 2:58am, sheriff’s deputies stopped a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck on La. Hwy 494 near Starlight Point for a traffic violation.
During the traffic stop, deputies learned that the violators drivers license was suspended and that the vehicle had no license plates, no motor vehicle inspection sticker, no compulsory insurance, no registration, and faulty tail lamps.
Deputies contacted a wrecker service to impound the vehicle.
During a inventory of the vehicle and consent to search, deputies seized suspected crystal methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia consisting of a pipe, syringes, etc.
Deputies say that during the inventory, the violator apparently realized that they discovered illegal items in the vehicle, fleeing on foot.
Deputies were able to apprehend the suspect after a brief foot pursuit.
Carrol W. Howell, of the 200 block of Tammy Lane, Natchitoches, La. , was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS Schedule II Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting an Officer, Flight from an Officer, and traffic violations.
Howell remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center.
Involved in the arrest were: Deputy Brandon Remo and Lt. Carl Taylor.
