Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Rapides Parish juvenile on drug and weapons charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.

Sheriff’s Criminal Patrol Units were working on La. Hwy 117, Sunday evening May 26th, when they stopped a 2011 Ford Mustang for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, deputies smelled a strong marijuana odor.

Deputies obtained permission to search the vehicle and while searching the vehicle occupants discovered suspected marijuana on a juvenile passenger.

Deputies also seized a Hi-Point .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number, and bullets in the juvenile’s back pack.

Deputies arrested:

16 year old Alexandria juvenile, booked at the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office charged with Possession of CDS Schedule I Marijuana, Illegal Possession of a Handgun by a Person under the Age of 21, and Possession of a Firearm with a Obliterated Serial Number.

Deputies say the name of the juvenile transported to Ware Juvenile Detention Center in Coushatta is not being released.

Involved in the arrests were:  Deputies Clinton Dunn and Brandon Smith.
