Title:  Deputies Arrest Campti Man on Drug Charges

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Campti man on drug charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.

On Monday evening May 13th at approximately 11:00pm, the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Prowler at 116 Marcelli Street in Campti, La.

Natchitoches deputies and Campti Police responded to the area.

Deputies were unable to locate any suspicious activity at the residence, but while canvassing the neighborhood for suspicious activity observed a male subject walking in the area.

Deputies interviewed the person, and while talking to him observed items on his person in plain view which are commonly associated with illegal narcotics activity.

During a search of the subject’s person, deputies seized a cellophane bag containing several individual bags of suspected marijuana believed to be packaged for street sales.

Gerald D. Smith, 29 of the 200 block of Barnum Street, Campti, La., was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 1-count of Possession of CDS Schedule I Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.

Smith remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond.

Smith has a prior criminal history.

Deputies Kelvin Samuel and Ryan Lacey made the arrest.
